How is it with my goals?

Let’s do a little check-in on the goals front, shall we? Because, as I’ve mentioned before, it’s smart to have moments where you sit back and review how things are going—weekly, monthly, or whenever suits your flow. These check-ins help you track your progress, tweak strategies, and fine-tune goals as you go. Maybe you’ve learned something new, or realised that your original plan needs adjusting. And hey, that’s totally fine!

But let’s be real here. When you realize your goals might be a little too ambitious, it’s not a cue to downscale to something comfortable and easy. Nope. A good goal should still scare you a little, light a fire under you, and make you hustle. So how’s it going for me? Well… it’s not all rainbows and wind-filled kites.

Honestly, I’m a bit stuck. The motivation train? It seems to have taken a detour. The wind? Well, it's gone on holiday, apparently. And instead of getting pumped to tackle my goals, I’ve found myself in a rut. Every day is blending into the next, and let’s just say there’s been way more Netflix and couch time than I’m proud of.

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “No wind? No problem, you can work on other parts of your game, right?” You’d think! I could be working on my fitness, building strength, flexibility, endurance, so I’m ready to rip when the wind does show up. I could be eating better, fueling myself like an athlete instead of a snack enthusiast. I could be working on my mental game, so the next time I hit the water, I’m all in.

And then there’s Berito! The brand I should be hustling to grow. A perfect time to dial in the strategy, boost the visibility, get things moving.

But nah. None of that’s really happening either. Why? Well, because I’m a human being. And to be honest, I lean a little toward the lazy side. I like instant gratification (who doesn’t?), and my drive kind of fizzles out when I don’t get it. There’s also that nagging question in the back of my head: am I really good enough to smash these goals? Worthy of it? Because sometimes, I’m not so sure.

Case in point: I skipped the last two windy days for reasons that don’t even make sense. Didn’t even try. And that, my friends, doesn’t sound like someone who’s going to become a kitesurfing legend anytime soon.

So what now? Talking about it helps, sure. But the real challenge is getting back into action. How do I get out of this rut and back into gear? Well, I’m giving myself a few simple goals for the next month. Nothing too crazy, but enough to get the ball rolling again:

Weekly goals:

  1. Sweat every day: Whether it's a workout, a run, or even a good walk, I’ve got to break a sweat.

  2. Get outside daily: Nature is good for the soul, even if it’s just a short walk.

  3. Don’t skip windy days: If the wind hits 18 knots or more and it’s onshore or side-shore, I have to go for it—no excuses.

  4. Sleep 8 hours: Sleep is non-negotiable. No more burning out and binge-watching till 2 AM.

Monthly goals:

  1. Stick to a routine: Build a rhythm that keeps me on track, but flexible enough to keep it fun.

  2. Track my progress: Log workouts, sessions, and those windy days I do (or don’t) hit. It’s harder to slack off when you’re keeping score.

  3. Find the fun: Rediscover why I love kiting, and remind myself that even the small wins count.

  4. Balance: I need to get Berito moving too, so I’ll aim to work on one new idea a week for the brand.

It’s not about perfection, but I’ll be holding myself accountable. So, let’s see how the next few weeks go—hopefully less couch, more wind, and some real progress.
